There’s a site dedicated to taking well known brands and turning them into hipsters brands. There is more emphasis on vintage design and typography. I must admit I am loving some of the hipster rebranding. There is a unique sense of style going on. Check out the site.

Many of you probably know that Starbucks has just unveiled a new logo. When any company does this, the public response back very quickly and, must I say, vocally. Gap had the worst response in 2010 to a new logo because they wanted a fresher look. That didn’t turn out very well considering it was only a week later that they switched back to the old classic GAP logo. The Starbucks one is getting mixed reviews, you hate it or you love it.
The logo still has the traditional Siren in the same shape. So they did keep it recognizable to the old logo and you can’t confuse the Siren with another company. However, a lot of customers recognized the black and green contrast as the Starbucks logo. When they got rid of the black, it almost makes it a new company. Colour is a vital component of any logo. People associate with colour first.
The name is also gone from the logo. Starbucks has become well-known enough in North America, that is not needed for them to have their name within the logo like Apple and Nike. Starbucks reasoning for getting rid of the name is so they can enter different markets and put their logo on things that have nothing to do with coffee. However, they could have just gotten rid of the word “coffee” and kept Starbucks in there.
It’s a logo that I’m gonna have to adjust to. I think the loss of the colour black is throwing me off a bit. The logo still has a bit of history with a bolder and simpler icon. I think it suits the company due to their plans are for the future.
Do you like the new simple and fresh Starbucks logo?
Today, we all know this logo. Belongs to Apple. It’s a simple and clean logo. Today, I learned that there was so much symbolism in the logo that I have never really thought about. The obvious one is that Apple represents intellect. But the one that I thought was clever and a bit cheesy. Was the Bite out of the apple. It actually represent a “byte” in technology computer terms.
It’s hard to imagine that this was the first logo of the company.
It has the same sorta concept of showing intellect but it a much more complex way. That is Sir Isaac Newton under a tree. Its to show the company intellect and discovery to a new technology.
When they changed the logo a year later to the rainbow apple, and consumer could recognize the shape and give interpretation their own meaning to the logo, business started getting better.
The logo is the face of the company. Its amazing on how much of a business relies on a good logo to succeed.
